{Firefighter Firsties}

We spent the week learning about our community and those that help in our community. We've read lots of books and watched video clips of jobs that protect, serve, and provide for our community. I can't wait for the Firsties to share their Community Helper Projects next week!

We made our own community!

Firefighters took over our room this afternoon!

{Firsties First Full Week}

Well...we made it! The Firsties are really starting to master the routines of our classroom and are familiar with our daily schedule. Our behavior system is in full swing and the kiddos are loving being able to move up our behavior chart and earn tickets. Today they shared what types of rewards they would like to receive for cashing in their tickets!
It looks like we'll be offering the following:
computer time
center time
extra recess
choose your spot
lunch buddy
book buddy
cool marker

This week we completed our first unit, "Owl" About Me! We celebrated our likes and differences as we collected information on our hair color, eye color, and birthday month. The Firsties made an "All About Me" Bunting that we hung across our ceiling.

They also made an owl glyph. By examining each glyph, we were able to learn if each kiddo had ever seen a real owl, if they are a night owl, and if they are afraid of the dark!

We read, watched, and learned about owls and completed our first informational writing. The Firsties are experts on owls!!

We ended the week by making "Me Cookies"!

{Classroom Reveal}

I'm loving my new classroom this year! Lots of bright colors, chevron, polka dots, and a few owls!
